LINE NUMBERS, WHICH IS THE WHOLE POINT
Every pad page numbers its lines down the margin, so a note is citable months later — my note at line 14, not somewhere on this page. That is what makes a legal pad a legal pad, and it is what the yellow rectangles sold elsewhere leave out.
TIME CAPTURED WHERE IT HAPPENS
Time recorded from memory at the end of the month is the time that gets written off. Every attendance note carries time on, time off, minutes and tenths in its header. Every timesheet gives one row per task and prints the six-minute conversion chart on the page, so you are not doing the arithmetic from memory.
BOTH HANDS
Right-handed and left-handed editions. The left-handed edition moves the exhibit rail and the reference columns to the other side, so your hand rests on empty page instead of on what you need to read.
